Boulton, Charles Arkell.
1841-1899. Born in Ontario; served in Imperial army until 1868; went to Red River Settlement and during the rebellion was imprisoned by Riel, 1869-1870; returned to Ontario, but again settled in Manitoba at Shellmouth; raised a cavalry unit "Boulton's Scouts" which he commanded during the Rebellion, 1885; appointed to the Senate, 1889; fifteen variations in the spelling of Arkell are known (Morgan, Canadian men and women of the time, 1898)
