1848-1934. Born at Red River; last teacher at St John's parochial school, 1868-1871; educated at St John's College; engaged by Church Missionary Society to assist Bishop Bompas, as a teacher, and spent winter of 1875/1876 in study with the bishop at Fort Simpson; admitted to deacon's orders, 1876; established a mission station and school at Fort Vermilion on Peace River, 1876; first Protestant missionary in the area; visited England in 1885 and brought his bride to Fort Dunvegan where he had a mission, 1886-1891; incumbent at Rapid City, Manitoba, 1892-1895; at Portage la Prairie, 1896-1908 (Winnipeg Free Press, February 10, 1933; Hopkins, Canadian annual review, 1934).
