1811-1896. Appointed by Wesleyan Missionary Society and HBC as first missionary in West, 1840; by 1845 had learned enough Cree to conduct services; at Fort Edmonton for eight years; introduced many Natives to growing potatoes, barley, and turnips among other vegetables; James Hector named a mountain near Banff for Rundle.
