2618: The first Canadian woman in the Northwest, or, The story of Marie Anne Gaboury, wife of John Baptiste Lajimonière, who arrived in the Northwest in 1807, and died at St. Boniface at the age of 96 years . 1902.: Dugas, Georges (1833-1928.); 1833-1928. Born and educated in Quebec; ordained Catholic priest, 1862; to West as missionary, 1866; associated with Catholic education and the cathedral of Saint-Boniface, 1866-1887; during Red River Rebellion contributed anonymous articles to the French press of Quebec explaining the Métis point of view; returned to Quebec 1887; surname sometimes misspelled Dugast, even on title-pages (Morice, Dictionnaire historique; Wallace, Dictionary of Canadian biography).
