1850-1943. Born Otsego County, New York; educated Kansas State Agricultural College; professional fossil collector; appointed Head Collector and Preparator of Vertebrate Fossils by Canadian Geological Survey and sent to Alberta to hunt fossils in Drumheller/Red Deer River area, 1912; retired to California then moved to Canada to live with son, Charles Mortram Sternberg, paleontologist and biostratigrapher with Geological Survey/National Museum of Canada, 1938 (Who was who in America, 1943-1950).
