1887-1974. Church of England deaconess; organized Sunday school caravans; financed design and purchase of first motorized van herself; 1920 experiment so successful vans were added each year as other pairs of women travelled to remote regions of Canada; Hasell from England to Canada each summer 1920-1972; made Member of the British Empire, 1935, for fundraising and volunteer efforts; received honorary doctorate from University of Saskatchewan, 1965; Order of Canada, 1969.
