b.1848. Born in England; to Manitoba with Red River expedition, 1870; saw active service in Fenian raid, 1870-1871; Dominion government land guide for several years; served on British American Boundary Commission, 1872-1874; collector of customs for the Dominion Government for some years; employed by provincial government as immigration agent and county court clerk at Gretna, Manitoba; author of provincial immigration pamphlets, nos. 1, 2, 3 (Who's who in western Canada).
