From Ireland about 1895; became land surveyor; moved to Calgary about 1900; employed on base line and meridian surveys; in charge of party which surveyed the 4th meridian at the Alberta-Saskatchewan border; in charge of levelling operations in the West, 1912-1924; lived in Ottawa, 1925-1932; retired to his home at Bowness, Alberta.
