Hunter, Alexander Jardine (1868-1940.)
1868-1940. Graduated in medicine, 1895; graduated in theology, 1903; sent by Woman's Missionary Society of Presbyterian Church to open a hospital at Teulon, Manitoba, a Ukrainian settlement; associated with hospital, later known as Hunter Hospital, until his death; established both a boys' and a girls' school home for Ukrainian children from isolated communities; one of the first English Canadians to learn Ukrainian; translated Ukrainian works into English; edited a Ukrainian language church paper, Kanadiiskyi ranok (Winnipeg Tribune, August 31, 1940).
