Church of England missionary; served on Blackfoot reserve, 1885-1888; Sarcee reserve, 1888-1895; Blackfoot reserve, 1895-194-?; invented a Sarcee syllabary; began translating the Gospel of St Matthew into Blackfoot syllabics but was prevented from completing the task by failing eyesight; retired to Esquimault, British Columbia.
