Cameron, William Bleasdell (1862-1951.)
1862-1951. Arrived in West, 1881; survivor of the Frog Lake massacre, 1885; in service of the HBC and of the Dominion government; for a time lived in USA where he edited Forest and Stream; "discovered" Charles M. Russell, the cowboy artist, when he purchased 12 paintings as covers for the magazine; founded The signal of Vermilion, Alberta; contributed stories to many magazines based on Native life and fur-trade experiences (Saskatoon Star-Phoenix, March 5, 1951; Morgan, Canadian men and women of the time, 1912; Who's who in Western Canada).
