The majority of the Selkirk settlers were Presbyterian, but they did not have a minister of their own until the arrival of Rev. Black in 1851. Letters and digests of letters by Black and Alexander Ross on the early struggles of Presbyterianism in the colony are in the Ecclesiastical and missionary record , vol.8-9, 1851-1853.
