On cover: "With best wishes for 1893" and "With compliments of the Hudson's Bay Co." Illustrated verses of Whittier's poem (first published in 1859) interpolated with Hudson's Bay Company information. Includes advertising. Also published, Winnipeg: Ferguson & Co., 1892 ([10] leaves]; Winnipeg: Russell, Lang, [19--?] (23 leaves); and as The Red River voyageur: The bells of St. Boniface , Winnipeg: Russell, Lang & Co., [189-?] (1 folded sheet). Also published in The Red River voyageur, and other poems , copyright edition, Toronto: G.N. Morang, [1900] (65p.), and in Peel 402. The poet gained his knowledge of Red River from the description given in Peel 298. The poem was first published in 1859. On December 17, 1891, Whittier's 84th birthday, Archbishop Taché had "the bells of the Roman mission" rung in the poet's honour.
