This work is said to have been prepared by Adam Thom from Simpson's notes. The first three chapters describe Simpson's journey on horseback across the prairies via Fort Carlton and Fort Edmonton. Also published as An overland journey round the world, during the years 1841 and 1842 , Philadelphia: Lea and Blanchard, 1847 (xiv, [2], [17]-273, [3], [17]-230p.); and in an edition of 250 copies edited by Thomas C. Russell as Narrative of a voyage to California ports in 1841-42: Together with voyages to Sitka, the Sandwich Islands & Okhotsk: To which are added skethces of journeys across America, Asia & Europe: From the narrative of a voyage round the world , San Francisco: Private Press of T.C. Russell, 1930 (xxxii, 232p.); reprinted in an edition of 271 copies, Fairfield, Wash.: Ye Galleon Press, [1988] (xxviii, 243p.).
