MacDonell, Allan (1808-1888) [info]. The North-West Transportation, Navigation and Railway Company: Its objects. Toronto: Printed by order of the Board, by Lovell & Gibson, 1858.
Physical description: 55 p.; 21 cm.

Appendix on pages [29]-54 contains Peel 281, as well as the eighth report (1851) of the Standing Committee on Railways and Telegraph Lines. MacDonell showed, on paper at least, that a railway would derive a lucrative revenue by exporting buffalo tallow and tongues from the western plains. A railway from Lake Superior would re-route the trade carried by cart between Red River Settlement and St Paul. The Company was incorporated by the Legislature of Canada in 1858. Also published, [New Haven, Conn.: Research Publications, 196-?] (55p.).
