mes sentiments. Je voudrais aussi que
tu montrasses cette lettre a Dubuque [sic, i.e. Dubuc], je
ne sais où il est; mais tu dois le savoir.
Ici, il fera tant de bien! Il y aurait
bien quelques petits sacrifices a faire
pour commencer! Sacrifices, c’est-a-dire
ne pas être récompensé, rémunéré peut-
être autant qu’on le mériterait. Mais il
y a ici un grand complot. Et tout ceux
qui y mettront la main passeront à
l’immortalité! Je ne mens pas! La Rivière
Rouge est un vaste théatre. Il s’y passe
des évènements qui feront mémoire dans
l’histoire d’Albion.

Cher ami
je suis et serai pour
la vie

Ton tout devoué ami

Louis Riel.

my feelings. I wish you would show this letter to Dubuque, I have no idea where he is, but you must know. He would do so much good here! For starters, some small sacrifices would have to be made! To sacrifice, to wit not to be compensated, remunerated maybe as much as one deserved. But there is a vast conspiracy going on here. And all those who will be involved in it will become immortal! I am not lying! Red River is a huge theatre. Things are happening here that will be remembered in the history of Albion. Dear Friend, I am and will be for life, your most devoted friend. Louis Riel.
