Hind, Henry Youle (1823-1908.)
1823-1908. Born and educated in England; to Canada, 1846; professor of geology and chemistry, University of Toronto, 1853-1864; geologist on Red River exploratory expedition sent out from Canada, 1857; in command of Assiniboine-Saskatchewan exploratory expedition, 1858; later led surveying expeditions to eastern parts of Canada, including Labrador (Wallace, Dictionary of Canadian biography).
