Faries, Richard (1870-1964.)
1870-1964. Born Rupert's House, James Bay, Quebec; father HBC employee; educated Moose Factory school, James Bay; trained under John Horden; schoolteacher at Moose Factory, 1890-1892; assistant missionary at Moose Factory, 1894-1895; graduated from Montreal Diocesan Theological College, 1894; missionary to Ojibway at Fort Hope, Osnaburgh, and Marten's Falls in District of Patricia, 1895-1899; incumbent St John's parish, York Factory and missionary to Swampy Cree in York Factory, Fort Severen, Trout Lake, Sammattawa, northern Manitoba and northern Ontario and to the Chipewyans and Inuit of Fort Churchill, 1899-1951; archdeacon of district of York, diocese of Keewatin, 1917-1950; director and trustee of Indian Day School, 1900-1950; director and secretary-treasurer of York Factory School, 1920-1950; retired to Toronto and then Thunder Bay; John Alexander Mackay was his great uncle (Thunder Bay Historical Museum Society).
