Please note: The Canadian Aboriginal Youth Writing Challenge is no longer being held but we have preserved the winning entries from the 2005 competition.

The Aboriginal Youth Writing Challenge is presented by Enbridge Inc. and organized by the Dominion Institute. The Writing Challenge provides Aboriginal youth (ages 14-18) with an opportunity to explore their heritage and creative writing skills. Students will have the chance to win cash prizes and travel to Ottawa. Each year, the first place story is published in The Beaver and the winner interviewed for a Canadian Learning Television special documentary. The University of Alberta is proud to include three of the 2005 winners on the Peel site. The compositions have been mounted as exemplars of creative student writing. The compositions also serve as models of the final stage of the research and writing process, the sharing of results with other researchers.
